Lakshmi & Rahul’s Live Painting -Wedding Ceremony at The Tremont House, Galveston Island

Lakshmi and Rahul reached out to me a year ago to discuss the possibility of me live painting their wedding ceremony at The Tremont House in Galveston Island . Their wedding was in March 2024.

I have painted live multiple times in Texas , but this would be my first time at Galveston Island. It is about an hour drive from Houston.

This is the first time I have worked with my namesake :) That was kind of fun at the wedding , when anyone asked me what my name was !

True story : the day before the wedding one of the guests asked me my name and I said, I’m Lakshmi . She kinda did a double take and asked if I was the bride 👰 !  It was my turn to do a double take 😆 as flattering as that I was I told her I am waaaaay waaaay past the bridal stage ! Obviously the guest had never met or seen the lovely bride before ! I had many more interesting conversations with people who spoke and interacted with me .

For the live painting , Lakshmi and Rahul wanted the moment of them right after they would be married. It wasn’t necessary that it was a certain look , or of them walking away . The wedding was special in so many ways . I have been at weddings where family members are the main officiants or involved in some ways.

At Lakshmi and Rahul’s wedding , Lakshmi’s grandfather was the priest and conducted the rituals assisted by Lakshmi’s grandmother. The rest of Lakshmi’s family was on stage assisting in other ways.

The painting would include the newlyweds, parents, grandparents and siblings along with the decor.

Once I set up my easel etc, I started painting the backdrop / decor as always. The decor was painted in by the time guests started to fill in the room and the wedding rituals began.

As I documented the wedding , I waited for the right moment between Lakshmi and Rahul after they were married . It was the perfect special moment as they looked at each other right before they walked down the aisle as newlyweds.

I was excited to paint it once I decided on the angles and the right photos to reference from. I worked on the painting and continued working as the wedding planner’s team flipped the room for the reception. By the time the room was set up for reception in the evening, I was ready to share the painting with the couple.

Lakshmi and Rahul did their walkthrough to see the reception set up and got to see the painting as well. I love sharing the painting with the couple during these quiet moments as they are able to take it all in . They are not rushed or it isn’t when the music is loud and everyone is dancing. It gives me a moment to connect with a couple to see if the painting matched with their vision and if there’s something I can do to improve the painting as I add final touches.

As the rest of the evening progressed, I added finishing touches and completed the painting.

Apart from the painting experience, I enjoy interacting with the guests and the many conversations that came up during my 2 day stay at Galveston. I got to work with the fabulous team from Nirali Shah Events . They absolutely crushed it . With a stellar team like theirs, they make it look easy on the outside . I watched them as they worked tirelessly while I was there . The communication amongst themselves and the rest of the vendors was seamless. They are also very warm, inviting and kind folks - Nirali and Neha - I hope you read this - thank you so much for making me feel welcome. I hope we can work together again soon.

This was a fulfilling visit to Galveston . I truly appreciate Rahul and Lakshmi for having me paint live at their wedding.

If you are interested in working with me , feel free to reach out via this contact form.

Cheers,

Lakshmi
