Live Painting at Summer Wedding in Alexandria, Virginia
On a lovely summer morning , last August , I was asked to paint live at The Westin, Alexandria, Virginia.
Sunder reached out to me a few months prior to create a live painting at her Hindu wedding ceremony . It was a beautiful morning as I reached The Westin in Alexandria. I love my local weddings - the ease of getting to the venue , familiarity of the surroundings , knowing what to expect.
I got to work alongside a very talented friend at the wedding- photgrapher - Nat Wong Saroj . Nat is incredible and I highly recommend him if you are looking for a photographer. Heβs also super warm and professional .
Sunder and I discussed what she would like painted . We had 2 options , but her preference was the exit after the wedding ceremony. She wore a beautiful pink lehenga designed by Rhea Kapoor.
It was a soft , airy feel at the ceremony with the candles adorning the aisle leading to the mandap. I was able to capture exactly what Sunder hoped for . I started painting live in the morning and was done with the painting a little before the reception started.
Happy Annive
Sometimes my time painting live at these venues lead to more interesting jobs. A couple of weeks later, I actually got to create a custom art for The Westinβs holiday card . This year I am working on another commissioned artwork by The Westin .
Creating art for repeat clients is an honor and I hope to share it on the blog soon.
Cheers !
